The Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin street sweeping as soon as possible following the winter season. The main roadways will be swept first, followed by the side street hills (with emphasis on areas near water bodies), and then finally into residential neighborhoods.
The neighborhoods are grouped into sections, and will be rotated yearly to ensure that the same areas are not swept first or last, year in and year out.
Sweeping material captured by the sweeper will be dumped directly into a dump truck, and hauled, when truck is at capacity, to the Town landfill, where it will be weighed and deposited, to be used as daily cover (D.E.P.: B.U.D. permit)
A daily log will be kept by the sweeper operator, logging water usage, loads captured and area swept. This will be compiled by the Highway Superintendent, and a year-end report will be issued.
