Town Meeting members interested in improving electronic communications to the Town Meeting body as a whole are encouraged to volunteer for a new committee. The Town Meeting Electronic Communication Advisory Committee was established at the Special Town Meeting October 21, 2009. Its stated purpose is ‘to ensure that electronic communication to Town Meeting members is effective and efficient.’ The Committee will be comprised of five Town Meeting members to be appointed by the Town Moderator.
Formation of the committee was a recommendation of the Town Meeting Review Committee, an Ad Hoc committee formed at the 2009 Annual Town Meeting to report back on ways to improve the functioning and effectiveness of Town Meeting. In an interim report submitted at the Fall Special Town Meeting, the committee cited improving communication about Town Meeting to South Hadley citizens and Town Meeting members as a primary goal. Specifically, they recommended utilizing electronic communication for meeting reminders and Town Meeting materials. Among other things, the Town Meeting Electronic Communication Advisory
Committee will discuss logistics for achieving this objective.
