Despite the recent recruitment of a new member, the South Hadley Historical Commission is still seeking a member to join its seven-member board.
Gail C. LePine joined the Historical Commission October 5, 2010 to fill the seat previously held by Joanne Marcotte, who resigned in 2009. However, due to the resignation of Juliet Demeter in February of 2010, the Board remains shy of its full complement of seven members. Besides Gail LePine, current members are Josephine Wojnarowski, David Daly, Kenneth Williamson, Susan Canedy and Robert Szklarz, who serves as chair.
The role of the Historical Commission is to preserve, protect and develop the historical and archeological assets of the town. The duties of the commission are more specifically defined in M.G.L. Chapter 40, Section 8D. Members are appointed to three-year terms.
Anyone interested in being appointed to the Board should submit a letter of interest to the Selectboard at 116 Main Street, South Hadley, MA or by e-mail to selectboard@southhadley.org.
