The South Hadley Public Library will show the documentary "Scene
Smoking: Cigarettes, Cinema and the Myth of Cool" on Monday, January 25
at 6:30 pm. From fashion styles to music trends, young people often
emulate celebrity behavior that they see on-screen, including the use of
tobacco. In this one-hour documentary, professionals from the
entertainment and health fields discuss real-life choices they’ve made
and what they think about the depiction of tobacco on-screen. This film
brings together some of Hollywood’s most powerful voices in a frank
discussion of artists’ rights, social responsibility, and the First
Amendment. The South Hadley Public Library is located at 27 Bardwell
Street; for more information call 538-5045.
