How can I get an abatement on the sewer use fee? Fill out request on back of sewer bill when making payment, or on an approved form provided by Tax Collector’s office. Why do I have to pay a sewer use fee if the unit is not occupied? Abatements are only granted if the water is shut off by the Water Department. Abatement requests for any units that have access to water usage will be denied.
Can an abatement be granted if one of the residents no longer resides year round in the unit? No, there is no proration in the bills for residents living in a unit for only a portion of the year.
