Stay cool during extreme temperature events at South Hadley's cooling shelters.

The South Hadley Public Library, located at 2 Canal Street, and the Senior Center, located at 45 Dayton Street, are both designated cooling shelters for those who need to seek relief from the heat.

The South Hadley Public Library is open:

  • Monday - Wednesday:  9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Thursday - Friday:  9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Saturday:  9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The South Hadley Senior Center is open:

  • Monday - Friday:  8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesdays until 7 p.m.

Taking a splash through the town's spray parks is also a fun way for the whole family to beat the heat.  Spray parks are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Beachgrounds Park and Buttery Brook Park.
