An opening on the Human Rights Commission needs filling.
The HRC aims to develop community awareness and education about human rights and promote understanding of the diverse cultures within our town and surroundings.
The commission will serve as a resource with respect to issues that challenge any individual or group’s enjoyment of their basic human rights in our community, and promote cooperation between organizations and agencies to cultivate and encourage an atmosphere of mutual understanding and harmonious intergroup relationships.
The HRC is a nine-member board with two representatives from the South Hadley Selectboard, two from the Commission on Disabilities, two from the School Committee, one from the Council on Aging, one from the Cultural Council, and one from the Board of Health. This open position is appointed by and representing the South Hadley Commission on Disabilities.
