Come and enjoy a special strolling event for everyone at South Hadley’s newest outdoor resource – the River to Range Trail! Join the Bike Walk Committee, the Council on Aging and the Planning/Conservation Dept for a Go4Life Stroll, an all-ages, all-abilities, family-fun walk on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The new one-mile River-to-Range loop trail offers beautiful woodland and field views, and seasonal views of the Connecticut River.
The trail is open to non-vehicle use, designed to accommodate mobility at all levels, and features an easily traversed compacted and crushed aggregate surface. Four sitting areas with benches and interpretive information provide opportunities to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
There is no charge for participation, but if you are able please bring a donation for the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Pantry.
Parking will be available in the small lot located near the start of the trail, and in the MHC boathouse circular driveway, but please consider carpooling so available spaces can be maximized.
Bike-Walk Committee Trek Guides will be available to escort strollers as they travel at their own pace on the trail. Interpreters will be available on the trail to share information with strollers who wish to stop and learn about the river and flora of the area.
Everyone is invited to stay and socialize after the Stroll; water and healthy snacks will be provided.
Leashed and crowd-friendly dogs may join their owners. Baby/toddler strollers are welcome, but no bikes, please.
A special thank-you to our community partners on this event: Mount Holyoke College, Big Y and the High School Culinary Program.
Non-enjoyable or hazardous inclement weather/conditions will force a cancellation. Please check back here or on the town’s Facebook page for any update.
