After the recent snowstorm, the Town of South Hadley has reevaluated its enforcement of the town-wide winter parking ban.
The ability to clear South Hadley streets during a snowstorm is integral to public safety. In order to properly do so, resident compliance with the town-wide parking ban is needed.
Tickets and towing are tools that were previously underutilized. Going forward, the South Hadley Department of Public Works and the South Hadley Police Department will work together to identify areas of town in non-compliance with the winter parking ban. Tickets will be issued and towing will occur. All violators are subject to and will be issued a $25 fine. Any vehicle violating the ban is subject to being towed. There is no warning requirement. Violators will be ticketed and may also be towed.
Every single South Hadley street falls under the winter parking ban. If it is impossible to park in a driveway during a ban, motorists must park on the even-numbered side of their street on even days and on the odd-numbered side of their street on odd days. Residents must switch their vehicle to the opposite side of their street between 8 and 9 a.m. each day during a parking ban.
No on-street parking is allowed on Bridge Street, Lamb Street, Bardwell Street, Main Street, Route 116, or Lower North Main Street.
We appreciate your compliance during a winter parking ban. Thank you for your assistance in helping South Hadley clear roadways in a timely manner.
