The South Hadley Selectboard recently voted to create an Age and Dementia Friendly Community Committee to implement initiatives identified in a town-wide action plan. The South Hadley Action Plan, which was formed with the support of community leaders and partners and with the assistance and guidance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, was created to support the successes of AARP’s Eight Dimensions of Wellness for age and dementia friendly communities.
Older adults play an important role in building and maintaining a thriving community and have their own unique needs and perspectives.
Members of the committee include appointees from various municipal departments and the community. Currently, the committee is seeking to fill two, at-large member positions. South Hadley community members who wish to serve their community and dedicate their time to this endeavor should apply here by Feb. 10. The Selectboard will schedule a virtual interview with applicants and subsequently appoint two in February.
