Massachusetts has declared a state of emergency in response to a growing number of migrant families arriving in the state in need of shelter and services. Due to a severe lack of shelter availability, Governor Healey has taken this step to address the issue. Residents in need, including migrant families, are encouraged to visit, where they can search for financial assistance, food pantries, medical care, and other free or reduced-cost services based on their zip code.

Additionally, the state is taking measures to support migrant families' access to public healthcare, including screening and vaccination. There is information available regarding infectious disease tools, including the MAVEN system, which provides resources and updates on respiratory illnesses.

COVID-19 remains a concern, and updated vaccines have been approved and authorized by the FDA, with recommendations from the CDC for everyone aged 6 months and older. These vaccines are available at clinics, pharmacies, and local health departments.

The Department of Elementary & Secondary Education is providing guidance on COVID-19 in K-12 schools, and there are resources available for COVID-19 test kits and MassHealth coverage for testing and treatment.

There is also information about a Community Health Data Tool to aid local health decisions and resources related to Hurricane Lee, which is approaching New England.

Several initiatives are highlighted, including the Community Health Equity Initiative Survey and membership applications for the Office of HIV/AIDS Advisory Group. The state is also offering technical assistance regarding opioid abatement funds.

For environmental concerns, there's information on developing best practices for reusable food ware containers and a funding opportunity related to health and disability inclusion grants.

Lastly, various events and training opportunities are mentioned, including a webinar on vaccine management and immunizations, the MHOA Annual Conference, and self-paced training on public health and dealing with stress in disasters.
