Absentee ballots and mail-in ballots for the April 13 town election are now available. See the list of candidates via specimen ballots here.
A new law was adopted March 16, 2021 that allows for temporary changes to the Massachusetts state election laws. This new law essentially provides extensions of provisions already set forth in the Acts of 2020.
Mail-In Application
A registered voter taking precautions related to COVID-19 in response to a declared state of emergency or guidance from a medical professional, local or state health official or any civil authority shall be deemed to be unable to cast their vote in person at a polling location by reason of physical disability may vote early by mail. Absentee Application
A registered voter who will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to absence from the voter’s town during polling hours, disability, or religious beliefs may request an absentee ballot. Both applications may be found on the clerk’s webpage and each application refers to the eligibility requirements and instructions on completing either application. Applications may be submitted electronically, by mail, or hand delivered to the secured municipal drop box between the police station and town hall.
The deadline to apply for a ballot, whether absentee or mail-in, is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7.
If a voter is admitted to a health care facility after 12 p.m. on the SEVENTH day before the election the voter can request a hand delivered Absentee Ballot.
The secured municipal voter ballot drop box is located outside behind the police station can be used to return all mail-in ballots.
All early voting ballots submitted by mail or returned to the secured municipal drop box must be received by the Town Clerk by 6 p.m. on the day of the election, Tuesday, April 13.
In-person voting will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, April 13, at South Hadley High School.
